micro-funding for archive engagement
Up to £500 grants for creative, academic and community-led work
Archives are not static repositories.
They are research environments connected to landscapes, collections, communities and lived experience.
This independent micro-fund supports individuals and community groups to activate archives through multi-disciplinary creative work.
I am particularly interested in projects that move between:
- Archival records and physical or curated environments
- Historical material and contemporary design
- Landscape, ecology and documentation
- Individual inquiry and collective experience
This might include:
- A PhD researcher translating archival research into a public-facing creative form
- A landscape or horticultural student working between historic records and planted space
- A community group engaging with both archival collections and a botanical or heritage space
- A neurodivergent collective using archives and gardens as material for creative exploration
- Practitioners working across disciplines
grants of up to £500 can support:
- Travel and access costs
- Research time
- Creative production
- Workshops or community activity
- Care or access support
Each funded project must produce a creative or community-facing output grounded in archival engagement.
This is a grant not a commission. Recipients retain full creative control and ownership of your work.
The Aim:
To encourage bold, cross-disciplinary uses of archives where records, environments and ideas inform one another in new ways.
